Shirley Moss

Shirley Moss has officially retired today, November 1. Mrs. Shirley has worked in our school system for 23 years. She has worked as an instructional assistant in preschool with Tonya Feese and Sandra Vanarsdale. She was a  kindergarten assistant with Tonya Feese, Julie Cowant, and Jiminy Hale. She has also worked to assist the FMD classroom with Jennifer Perkins. She has simply loved working with students.

Mrs. Shirley knows that in retirement she will miss the students and staff at our school. She will never forget the hugs from little ones and when they would say, “I love you Mrs. Shirley”. It is times like those that her heart would melt. She hopes that students remember that she loved them, had fun with them, and she also hopes that she made a difference in their lives.

While she has been a school employee she stated that the biggest change she has seen has been in technology.

Upon retiring, Mrs. Shirley will get to do a few of her favorite things like being with family, helping others, and cooking. She says that her future plans include doing the Lord’s work.

Jiminy Hale said, “Mrs. Shirley Moss has the biggest heart of anyone I have ever known. She loves each and every child unconditionally and they each know it! Shirley has been an absolute asset in the classroom setting.  She wasn’t just a classroom instructional assistant; she was a hug, a hand to hold, and a friend to walk beside. I for one will miss her very much! She deserves the very best! Happy retirement!

Telissa Moore has this dedication message for Mrs. Shirley:

Shirley Moss is a dear and beloved Christian friend. Shirley has known me all my life; her mother babysat me. Then, when the county schools closed in 2006, Shirley and I began working together at Adair County Elementary School, in pre-school. Our friendship grew from then, and she became like a mother/sister to me. We attend church together and enjoy each other’s company. Shirley has left a huge impact on my life as a Christian role model, her work ethics, and I feel as if she left the same impact on all the faculty and staff, as well as the students that have crossed her path over the years as an employee of the Adair County School District. Shirley has had a compassion for all students to be successful. She loved, cared for, and went above and beyond to assist everyone, not only in her position at the school, but in our community as well. I pray God Blesses Shirley with good health and happiness always. Love you dearly and appreciate all your dedication to the students, faculty and staff of Adair County Schools.

Your “adopted daughter”,

Telissa Moore

Best wishes on your new adventures! ACPC loves you.
