Throughout the month of April, students and families at took part in a Family Fitness Challenge that encouraged healthy habits, movement, and quality family time together. The challenge invited families to complete physical activities together throughout the month and record them on a Family Fitness Calendar.
A total of 76 ACPC students participated, representing 73 different families. Families were encouraged to stay active together for at least 15 days during April, with opportunities to earn prizes and recognition for their efforts.
The activities families completed showed just how creative and active ACPC students can be. Families reported spending time walking, swimming, hiking, riding bikes, playing ball in the yard, freeze dancing, and even going on a zipline adventure together. One of the most unique activities reported by a family was “family wrestling,” which quickly became one of the most memorable responses turned in during the challenge.
Parents also shared encouraging stories about the impact the challenge had at home. One parent wrote that her daughter had started waking up extra early each morning to exercise with her dad before the day began. Another parent shared that her son reminded the family every evening to go walking together, and that it became one of the highlights of their day.
The Family Fitness Challenge was designed not only to encourage physical activity, but also to help families spend meaningful time together while building healthy habits. Suggested activities included everything from family walks and bike rides to dance parties, obstacle courses, tag, and sports in the yard.
ACPC Physical Education Teacher said the challenge was a great way to see students and families encouraging one another while having fun together.
By the end of April, it was clear that the challenge had become about much more than exercise. It helped create special memories, encouraged teamwork within families, and inspired students to stay active in fun and meaningful ways.
On May 8th prizes were given out to each student who completed at least 15 days. They received a bracelet saying “Let’s Get Moving”, a fidget popper for your backpack, and gum. Those who had 20 or more calendar days filled were put in for our big prize drawings. The big prize winners were as follows:
