Celebrating the Retirement of Jennifer Mann
After 30 years of inspiring young readers, encouraging students, and filling the halls with kindness and laughter, Jennifer Mann is turning the page to a brand-new chapter of life — retirement.
Mrs. Mann spent her career serving both John Adair (17 years) and ACPC (13 years) as a librarian, where she became much more than someone who checked out books. She became a champion for reading, a listening ear for students, and a familiar smile that brightened countless school days. Throughout her years in education, she worked alongside many wonderful coworkers and assistants who helped shape her journey, and she treasures the friendships and memories they created together. Some of her assistants have included Brenda Bennett, Teresa Harris, Vicki Kemp, Joyce McFarland, and Tara Coomer.
When asked what she loved most about her job, Mrs. Mann shared that nothing compared to seeing students excited about reading and watching them accomplish their reading goals. She especially enjoyed recommending good books and celebrating students’ achievements as they discovered the joy found within the pages of a story.
Over the years, she created memories that will stay with her forever — field trips to Washington, D.C., talent shows, dress-up days, and even navigating the challenges of teaching during COVID. More than anything, she says she will miss the smiles of the children and the special bond she shared with her “related arts” team and coworkers.
Mrs. Mann has witnessed tremendous changes in education during her career. She began teaching in a time before phones, computers, and social media became everyday classroom tools. Through all the changes, one thing remained constant: her dedication to students and her love for learning.
Outside of school, Mrs. Mann enjoys reading, shopping, concerts, movies, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending precious time with family and friends. Retirement will allow her to focus even more on the people she loves most — especially her grandson, Baby Mann. She also looks forward to spending time with her mother, her dogs (Lucy and Charlee), fixing up houses, traveling, subbing, Sparking groceries for Walmart, and enjoying new adventures with family.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Mann received several grants and accomplishments, including the Steel Reece Grant, KEA Grant, and the Retired Teachers Association Grant. Yet perhaps her greatest accomplishment cannot be measured by awards at all. It is found in the lives of the students she encouraged, the readers she inspired, and the countless children who felt loved and valued in her library.
Mrs. Mann hopes students will remember that she loved each and every one of them. She wants them to know how much joy it brought her to help them discover books they loved and to celebrate their successes along the way.
Although one book is closing, another is just beginning. Jennifer Mann’s story will continue through the lives she touched, the memories she created, and the legacy of love she leaves behind in the halls of our school.

I’ll never forget our Related Arts COVID days. Now I will have to be in search of new entertainmentL. However, I hope you have a totally AWESOME fabulous retirement.”
Carmen Wall shared, “It’s hard to imagine our school without you! The library will not be the same. You always keep us laughing and entertained. I will miss your presence at ACPC, but wish you the best in your retirement. Enjoy your next chapter!! (And I hope you live Happily Ever After…)
Her friend, Andrea Irvin, added, “We are not only celebrating retirement for Mrs. Jennifer Mann, but also celebrating all the lives she has touched in her many years at John Adair and Adair County Primary. She has made a lasting impact on childhood literacy in Adair County.“
